Time Limits for Original Contractors
An original contractor is a person or organization that enters into a contract directly with the owner of real property to improve that property.
Generally, an original contractor must:
- Record Lien - record its mechanics lien claim within four months of its last date of lienable work
- File Suit - file a lawsuit to foreclose upon its lien claim within two years of its last date of lienable work
